I remember a few months ago there was a company giving free dotcom domain names..However I have forgotten which it was, and also tried searching the forums but no luck...any help ?
Three or so months ago, either Dotster or Namecheap gave away free .com's. In July Godaddy gave away some free domain names. Register.com seems to give away a free .com every now and then. You'll need to place a credit card on file and perhaps even enter a business name alongside your own name. .
There is alway a company giving away free domains, they profit from it anway because they hope you will renew them. As mozzeratti said, Register.com seems to give out more often.
