This is definitely scary stuff. I did a little research and find that Alexa is definitely our biggest threat.

I created a simple Download Page Protector that doesn't require any web programming to battle this.

As to why you need to protect your download page, this thread and my video on my website make a good point towards it.

    Hope this helps. :)

I'm new to using CB as a publisher, but DLGuard is a bit expensive at $127 if you don't need all the extra bells and whistles and just want to protect your downloads.

When doing a little homework on an alternative, I found at several scripts to help secure your Thank You page. “CB Download Protector” is at http://www.mywebmasterinabox.com/download_protector_clickbank.php, and “CB Sentry” is at http://cbsentry.com. Both are under $40. (No, I am not an affiliate of either — those are direct links.)

Alternately, there may be some products that you WANT people to steal as viral list-building products. One way to generate leads from the "freeloaders" is to put a link at the bottom of every page (or a prominent link in a video download or a stated link within an audio download) to "Claim your free gift worth $127 at http://yoursite.com/freegift", then on that page, describe the gift, the value, and require they join your e-mail list before they can download (of course, they can always unsubscribe).

Freeloaders are not always the most desirable target market, but the fact that they're motivated enough to take the time to steal something of yours means that they're interested in what you have to offer. With the right message and product, you should be able to generate future sales to those leads.

That's also a great strategy to OVER-deliver on your product (with that unannounced free gift) that will make your legitimate buyers want to do more business with you.

Why can't you just password-protect the folder with the download page from your control panel? Would that not be enough to stop anyone without a password (which is emailed to customers) from accessing anything???

E-junkie would be another option to protect your digital download products. E-junkie Thank You pages provide links to your product, but the links are per order and you can configure how long you'd like the link to be valid for and how many times it can be downloaded from that link.
