Free/Cheap SSL certificate for website wanted

    Hello.

I've got a few domains hosted at hostgator, which uses cPanel version 11.17.0. I am looking for either a free or a cheap SSL certificate for one of my domains.

The reason for this is because it requires more than just standard personal details to be entered by the user, so I would like to give the user a little bit of piece-of-mind by showing that it is encrypted (to a certain degree, at least!)

Can anyone help me install an SSL certificate through hostgator, as frankly I don't have a clue how to. Or at least give me instructions on how to do so.

    Cheers

Godaddy is probably the cheapest trusted cert out there. With hostgator, I think you need them to install it for you.

Log into your cpanel control panel, and see if there is a SSL/TSL Manager link under the security section. If there isn't, or if you can't change the options in there, then you need to contact hostgator and see what they need you to do.

If you are able to, you need to generate a private key, then generate a CSR. Take the CSR to godaddy or whoever else you are going to purchase a Cert from. Once complete they will send you the cert in an email or text file. There is another option to install the cert in cpanel and you will need to enter the Private Key, CSR and Cert. Once this is complete, your site should work via ssl.
