I recommend you to start your own blog. Advertisements are allowed in Google Blogspots but not in wordpress.com.

You have full control over your blog in your own paid blog so go for it IMO.

    DON.

You are allowed to have adsense with blogger, in fact it is very user friendly but the drawback is that you can not control the blog as much compared to a paid blog like WP.

When I started I used blogger but it was basically to get the learning experience about blogging then I switched to WP and it was a learning curve because you have so many choices and sometimes you have to tweak the code to make it work especially with free themes. Paid themes have fill in the blanks now bot of course you have to invest some.

    My two cents

It depends on the money that you have. If you have money sufficient for domain registration and hosting for atleast a month, then go for paid blog. If you think that you can pay only with your advertisements earnings, then go for a free blog on blogger where you can insert your own ads.

It is kind of a ridiculous question without you defining why you want to start blogging. If it is for your miscellaneous ramblings, blogspot is as good as anything else. if you are serious about making money, may be you should host your own blog

What niche are you going to serve? Have you done any research to see who else is blogging about what you want to blog about? That's a good place to start. Are most of the blogs you'd be competing against on their own domain names or are they on Blogger.com?

Personally, I think any serious blogger who wants to make money from their blog - be it a service company or whatever - should consider having their own blog.

You might think that because Google owns Blogger.com that it would be better for SEO, but that is not the case. I've seen much better SEO results for standalone blogs. It's the best way to go for serious bloggers intent on making money from their efforts.

Working on a free blog is a good way to get started. It's always possible, however, not simple, to migrate a blog from blogger to your own domain. It may be a good idea to really get a tight focus on which niche you are interested in. "freelancing for writers specializing in whatever". If you tighten up your focus, you will appeal to a specific audience. If your blog content is good, you will get a lot more traffic. And, if you get traffic, you will make money.
The one thing that you need to be certain of is how likely is it that your audience will click on adsense banners and ads. If you are monetizing strickly with adsense then you may want to pick an audience that will be more likely to use it.
There is some good content on how to blog over on 'copyblogger.com'.

If your budget is tight at the moment going with the free blog option is not a bad way to start. Although if you want to have control over all things about your blog and space, then I highly recommend you start your own paid blog. Having your own domain name gives you more marketing options and gets your name out there and known. You are looking at a small fee for getting your own domain name and then a small hosting fee. Go with a host that will help and support you as you grow, then as your traffic picks up and you get to a point it is making a good money turn around for you, then you can upgrade your service levels if needed.

Nothing wrong with planning ahead some, but budget can set things I understand. Just remember you get what you pay for and free is not getting much. I would suggest you keep lots of backups on your end so if you wake up one day and your blog is gone, you don't lose all your hard work.

If your intent is to earn money from your blog, you should absolutely go with a paid hosting.

I would really recommend using the Wordpress software, but since Wordpress.com doesn't allow Adsense, you'll have to use the open-source software. The shear number of SEO widgets and high quality themes makes the initial investment worth it.

Very able-bodied said. You are apparently one of the few that I begin that in fact highlights the pros and cons of changeless hosting. Most will jump in anon with advising cocky hosted blogs sometimes alone in the accomplishment to maybe absolve their own decision. I accept acclimated both actually. Started my blog through blogger and formed my way to accomplish some changes to accomplish it attending added unique. I even had humans adage that they anticipation that I was on WP. I did use the custom area affection that blogger provided admitting and this is one affair that abounding humans can still opt for above-mentioned to traveling to a cocky hosted blog. Ultimately, you are appropriate about the chargeless hosting platform’s adeptness to abound and at this point, it is astute to anticipate about affective to a added controlled environment. The added check that I begin about changeless hosting is that it can be taken abroad from you, something that does not appear if you pay for your own hosting.
