I have a website and want to start to accept and pay in Bitcoin.

Does anybody know of any existing software that would allow me to accept and pay using bitcoin without paying the % transaction fees that some of the merchant account software charge ?

This is a new one that I have not heard of (I use Paypal), but Bitcoin describes itself as:

"Bitcoin is an experimental new digital currency that enables instant payments to anyone, anywhere in the world. Bitcoin uses peer-to-peer technology to operate with no central authority: managing transactions and issuing money are carried out collectively by the network. Bitcoin is also the name of the open source software which enables the use of this currency. The software is a community-driven open source project, released under the MIT license."

Sounds like it is free to use.

    Very nice question!

I'm using WooCommerce for my shop and it working beautifully and I really wanted to use Bitcoin too. It's becoming hot.

Then, I found a company that suits perfectly for me, it's: https://bitpay.com

They have very low fees (%99) over transactions, very reliable, because there is no charge back. You are accepted as merchant very fast too, mine was in less than 24 hours, they checked my site and sent me the confirmation, not much requirement to be a merchant. And they also have a Wordpress plugin ( http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/woocommerce-bitpay ) for WooCommerce that works nice out of the box.

I don't know other plugins for other carts, you'll need to search it.

But for me, it's working greatly.
