It's some kind of publicity stunt, however the firm that gives away the domain names doesn't seem very professional though. can't seem to find the address right now..

This is true, you can register as many (suggested not more than 500) .be names till 30th January 2006. They will be registered for 1 year.

You can register them at EuroDns.com

However, they are currently on hold just after 1 day of promotion because of some problems. They will re-open it very soon so keep an eye.

I've got 16 names registered before they took it off.

    Cheers,
    sufi

Stupid question...but why would you even want them

After a year you are going to have to pay high prices to renew and at that point you would have sunk 1 years investment into a domain that may not catch on for years (if ever)

If you are from Belgium, its a different story

I guess there is the potential to have a "catchy" name for a domain, but they'd likely already be taken ....

    spelling.be
    cometo.be
    tobeornot.be

    :D

But your points are valid nonetheless yfs1.

True, those examples are similar to .tv and .fm - I do agree

However, there are people in this thread registering 50 names...To me that devalues it right away. Meanwhile, this time next year you will get a bill for $800 for worthless domains

You are 100% correct, and if they're doing that they're 100% stupid ... spreading oneself too thin is the first fault, setting themselves up for a huge let down is the second, investing time and resources into a bunch of domains they won't be able to renew (afford) is a third, and the list could go on, and on, and ...

However, if my Dutch is anywhere close, I think it only allows for ten free registrations .... but that's still too many IMO.

Your link doesn't even go anywhere???

If you are going to link to your blog in every post...At least have some info in it. Like where people go to register the names, etc.

Yes, your link to your useless blog is not a link to the domains that you mentioned. You have a link on your useless blog for the .be domains that is not English. Your useless blog is full of useless spam content and url spam.

I too am an idiot - not because I don't know how to use my browser, but for looking at your useless blog.

You're undoubtedly on your way to making millions online, so I guess you won't have time to spam DigitalPoint much longer anyway; your ability to win friends and influence people is peerless - congrats.
