This is my first post, so I apologize for being long winded. I've got a number of sites going that get little to no natural search traffic. The basics are all there... • Valid HTML • Legitimate Title / METAs • Appropriate Link Anchors, etc. The sites I'm speaking of too all feature quality, unique content. So the question is -- how I can get these sites into the engines without spending money on directory inclusion or pay per click advertising? Any tips for Google, MSN/Live Search or Yahoo?
Adsense I think, is free. But the best way to include your site for PPC Advertising is build links in payed sites.
Going to need backlinks to rank in search engines. Content and seo friendly site structure isn't going to be enough.
It will be tempting to get a billion backlinks overnight but this will do more harm than good. Search engines are looking for steady growth of backlinks. They should grow overtime. Going from zero backlinks to 1000 in a week won't help out your new site. If you have quality content and its been indexed you might consider converting them into articles and submitting them to the article directories. If people like the content they will pick up your article and give you even more backlinks. Building links this way organically will pay off as time goes on.
You can submit to free web directories and write articles and press releases (and submit them to article directories). There are a lot of ways to build links with little or no expense, but there is always a trade-off between time and money.
1. Write articles and submit to the article directories. 2. Link exchange with relevant sites. 3. Post your link in the forum signature.
If you don't want to pay for directory inclusion, submit to ones which are free. There are so many of them... Just look in the directory section of DP... Bye

Is there any concern for requesting (or submitting to directories) too quickly? In other words, if I were to develop many inbound links to my site seemingly overnight -- would it cause an issue? Also, how long until those links will be considered in the sites' rankings?
I have submitted it to Yahoo, ODP, etc. as well as to some other niche directories. I still only have one page indexed and there's no rankings at all. Do you have any recommendations on where to find directories that will help to speed things up a bit more?
Well, the thing is that inclusion in the directories is kind of staggered. So, you could submit 100 times and get inclusion in an hour for one site, and 6 months for another site. I would keep it to a reasonable number, for example maybe 50-100 submissions a day. You could do it in a week or so. You'll find lists of directories here: http://info.vilesilencer.com/ Try submitting your sitemap to google. It will help to get your website indexed all the way through.
