Kudos for the tip my good man. I was lurking on ebay just yesterday but never gave a thought that ebay had a blog setup. Great tip!
Hold on just a moment. I went over to Ebay and opened up a dormant account we had over there a number of years ago and I recall one of the reasons why we left Ebay. Now this is a recollection of an old policy but they were adamant about not allowing linking to sites outside of Ebay as they felt it drained off customers, which it indeed did. You could post the links back then but they rigourously deleted them and often deleted the accounts. I tried looking at their policies but don't have the time right now. At that time blogging was certainly not what it is now but I wanted to just offer this for what it is worth. I got kind of excited thinking we had a presence on Ebay and it would be great to start up a blog but then I remembered how Ebay had more than its share of policies limiting anything that actually helped the vendors grow. You may want to look at this before putting too much time on it. I have to believe they altered their policy on outside linking but they would allow you to place as many links as you wanted but the ebay police monitored the site very frequently and we went in our listings one morning and they had deleted 100 plus due to that violation.
I asked my wife and she directed me to the dreaded no linking page on Ebay's policies. Remember this is for Ebay stores but it may be for blogs as well. " eBay allows sellers to place only certain types of links within an eBay Store. A link is any mechanism used to take a member off of the eBay site, whether static or clickable. Links that are permitted on eBay Store home pages or other Store Custom Pages and areas are listed below. Unlimited links to a member’s own items and pages on eBay Links to an email address that opens an email client for potential buyers to ask questions about items in the eBay store Up to 10 links to eBay Store pages of other members at any time on the eBay Store home page and unlimited links on other Store Custom pages, as long as the other seller has given permission Links to pages off eBay that provide information about a member’s store or service, provided the link and pages are not promotional in nature of items not offered for sale on eBay Links to your “Add to My Favorite Sellers and Stores†page Linking from an eBay Store to Web sites that offer to trade, sell, or purchase goods or services, or including links for any purpose other than those listed above is not permitted. Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions, including: Listing cancellation Limits on account privileges Account suspension Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings Loss of PowerSeller status " I haven't found specific policies about the blogs, but they still are pretty stinky about outside linking. I hope this helps, am not trying to rain on anybodys parade and hope there are no restrictions on linking out from the blogs but I will be pleasantly surprised if Ebay is allowing this. I hope I am wrong.
Here is a link to the Ebay links policies: I don't think any links placed on Ebay are going to be permanent but you guys/ladies decide: http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/listing-links.html
No this changed... you used to get your but kicked for links in your about page but that has changed as of last month... check the number of links in about pages now...
Create one last night and added the links in in the html code.. I'll let you guys know if it makes any difference..
Thanks for these tips. I currently make a tidy amount using rollover to ebay as an affiliate. I can't believe how much they are paying. This ebay blog is great.
