    Dear Blogspotter,

    Thanks for the questions.
Let me try to answer them in order:

Q: You want to start a full fledged search service, or are you servicing a niche?
A: I used to operate over 30 search engines. They were all optimized to serve people with different interests. Some of them were getting over 20,000 unique visitors daily, until the Big Daddy update hit the industry, because most of my traffic came from the top search engines and we all know that Google owns a big chunk of that.

Q: DO you think people will come in to search for stuff from ur site instead of Google?
A: The purpose of uppersites.com is not to replace Google or any other search engine. It is more like an addition to the already existing services. For example if you submit your site to uppersites my crawler visit your pages and your page will most likely be included in the index. UpperSites will generate a SE optimized page with search results on it including yours and that page will eventually get ranked high on other search engines and visitors searching on the major search engines will come to the page on UpperSites displaying your listing which may provide you some additional traffic.

Q: Does it have a better algorithm?
A: Define "better". Think about the new "improvements" Google keeps introducing which are making it more and more impossible for webmasters to get in the Google index. UpperSites is more "forgiving" than Google and some other top search engines. By getting search results pages on UpperSites indexed on the top search engines will make it possible for webmasters get some traffic to their sites in case they never got listed on the top search engines or got banned for some earlier mistakes while trying to do some SEO on their sites...

Q: What does it search for best?
A: It searches in the index that is built by the spider which feeds on the URLs the community on this forum submits. The number is growing daily, which is a good sign. The more pages are included in the index, the better, more relevant listings the search algo will come back with for the user's query.

Q: Is it a going to be a vertical SE?
A: UpperSites.com is not using feed from other search engines. It is only using its own index.

Q: What is your value proposition? Why would people come visit your search engine?
A: I think I answered this question above. The value comes from the ease of inclusion. UpperSites provides a value by filling up the gap the top search engines are creating by making their filters more and more strict.

Thanks again for the questions. They are a good way of reevaluating projects I'm working on...

The nofollows were up on the site to test if the SERPs would get better ranking on the major search engines by not linking out (in their spiders' eyes)...

Sites linking back were not getting the nofollows.

I am in the process of removing the nofollows though...

doubler i AGREE nofollow tags are worthless"

maybe thats what thee other guy was implementing when he said this directory was worthless" I mean really for some one to say that they have to be brilliant unless they are part of a vodo cult"

I hate to be the contributor of neg but it is what it is" the directory has to be of built upon Google guide lines" thats a follow rule" get to know why Google has the edge on all it's competitors."

for know we can try to justify what is a good directory" if your posting to a good one like searchsight.com you will know that your getting listed their." they email you back a screen shot of your listing as well as searcwarp.com these are probably one of my favorite directories.;)

not only that" but they keep you updated monthly with a screen shoot of your url" best of luck to all you directory inventors keep trying harder its gets pretty ugly more like trying to climb Google for pharmaceutical grade fish oil" thats a tuff one it takes years to get their" know that we've discussed these features one should implement good seo tactics to all areas of web design and domain tuffness" that the beef" beat up your competition with a heavy weight domain I guarantee you climb faster then your most fierce competitor"

dont dominate innovate thats your best bet" a good online presence is the one that tells you your on the right track learning the tactics is so fun":D

    Heehee. :)
Will do! I wish one day it would happen...
But seriously, I didn't design this site to replace any other SE. It only exists to fill up the gaps in the current SE "marketplace(?)"

    Thanks for the URL(s)!

The spider / search engine crawler does the filtering and indexing. It currently crawls through hundreds of sites per day, so I don't send out approval emails.

    Thanks for your link!
