    Hello,

I just wanted to let you know that my search engine, uppersites.com is now offering a free Add URL service where you can submit your own web site's URL or suggest a site that is not already in the UpperSites index.

Though reciprocal linking is not necessary, I promise quicker inclusion of pages that link back to uppersites.com

Thanks for keeping my web crawler well fed!

    Cheers,
    Kris

    Added my URL as well.
Just out of interest, is your site based on a script that pulls results from other search engines, or do you have your own spider?

I designed a spider, a web crawler that visits the submitted URLs and follows the links to other sites as well. It only includes pages in the index that have enough content on them. The query script uses inbound links to help with ranking based on the anchor texts if they are relevant to the content of the submitted page... Similar to the top search engines.

    Thanks for the URL!

Thank you all for the URLs!
I can see the list growing by the minute!

I'm still working on the site so I need lots of visitors and feedback.
I guess a few inbound links wouldn't hurt either.

I recently added a blog search which could be activated by adding blog: in front of the query. And there is a way to disable the safe content filter by adding adult: in front of a query.

Currently planning to add a voting feature which will allow users to vote sites up, but it will not directly override the internal ranking algo, instead it will add to the points which determine the ranking of a page for the given query.

(A hotlink to the AddURL page would also help. I can't insert one yet)

Thanks again for supporting my spider with your URLs!

I can't believe how fast the list is growing.
I'm going to feed those links to my spider now, so make sure your sites are up!

Thanks for the URLs, please keep them coming!

    The link is: uppersites.com/addurl.html

Yes! I built and now am promoting the site for the same reason: I am considering to take a serious job offer which when I start will require my full attention and it is a requirement not to be part of a competing/similar type of business...

Engine works fine, but upper idea is not a good idea for a new search engine.

    Thanks for the note.
What would you recommend me to use instead of UpperSites then?
    I'm open to ideas.
I own over 30 domain names that are currently kick over to UpperSites.com with a 301 redirect. Perhaps I could use one of them as the new main domain for this search engine.
Some of them are listed right on the front page. Please check them out if you have a moment and let me know if you think any of them is better than the current one.

    Thanks!

Thank you all for the URLs!

The list is growing so fast that I decided to give it all to my spider to deal with it.
I'm thinking about automating this thing completely. I just can't keep up!

Thanks again! and please keep them coming....

PS: Could someone please post a hotlink to that page? (I'm still not allowed to include hostlinks in my posts)
    The URL is h t t p : / / w w w . uppersites.com/addurl.html

    Thanks for your URL!
Naming it was a long story. Before UpperSites was born I designed and was running over 30 other search engines and since the latest one, UpperSites got a new Yahoo! contract I decided to keep that one and forward all the traffic from my other ones to this new one using 301 redirect.
