Hello,

OSHQ.com is offering a Header Design and a Logo Design contest where the winner(s) will get a 20 GB Disk Space/200 GB Bandwidth CPanel hosting account for 4 years.

The contest is open to all DigitalPoint members and will run for just 48 hours - after which the winner(s) will be decided.

Yes, we did have a different contest running, but the incentives were not high enough to get enough responses - so we've "upped the ante"!

Suggestions

First of all, visit http://www.oshq.com and get a "feel" for what needs to be included.

The header should fit well into the site and be something close to the current one (which I threw together really quickly - coupled with the fact that I know little to nothing about Photoshop).

The header should implement the following into it:

> Custom Colorization to match the site's colors
> Professional "Logo" for header (example: Web hosting server image, anything that applies to the web hosting industry). The logo should be unique and able to instill curiosity in the potential customers.
* You can possibly use the logo entry you pitch or you can use a different techy image
> The following text:
text 1: "Hosting"
text 2" "Only Super High Quality" (try to define the first letters of each word for this slogan, as to show them what OSHQ stands for)
* Both texts should be separated and in a dynamic, intriguing font.

>> More Information: I really like the "paper clipped note" that some headers have. If you could put that in the upper-right hand corner and submit two copies of the header [one with the note filled out if you want and one with a blank note so we can write in future promotions]. This is not required, but it's just something I like seeing and it creates a more dynamic outlook for the website

> Other: You're the web designer, so be creative


The logo can contain anything you see fit. I would like OSHQ.com to be the highlighted part of the logo and possibly stylize it. It should have a background that will fit seamlessly into the site.

> I like creative logos, so do as you see fit. Plain logos will not be highly regarded.


** You can put your own slogans in the header/logo if you would like. Our company's goal is to offer HUGE cheap, reliable web hosting packages and unheard of support. **

(The website is only about 25% complete and is not ready to be launched)


You can submit multiple entries and I will usually respond within an hour.


If you would like to create a "Favicon" as well (small image near the URL), then you can. We will give the person who submits the best "Favicon" 2 months of free hosting (same plan as above).

Okay,i thought about green/ dark purple/blue for your logo,
have any idea about favourite color scheme?

 

came up with few versions,feedback appriciated.

 

All of those look great . They will be transparent or fit in with the dark background of the site if you win, correct?

OK, I will give you guys some things I like/dislike/would like to add. Give me about an hour and you'll get a detailed review.

 

Some evaluation:


NightVisioN: Your second banners (http://img127.imageshack.us/img127/5542/hostingblacksa1.jpg) are looking better. I really like the color scheme of the second one - it fits well with the outlook of the site. The third (red) logo does stand out very well and creates a nice, desirable impact.

I would like to see how the logo looks like with ".com" introduces near OSHQ. Maybe running vertically down the right side of the text? Also, a horizontal fade for the text (or brightening) might really add to the style of the logo and make it more "dynamic".

I would like to add that I REALLY like how you highlighted the logo and sort of "faded" the text in this one: http://img406.imageshack.us/img406/1513/darkod0.jpg. Maybe use the new blue logo design and add in this effect.

Your logo projects a very powerful, professional image. We really like that.

You might want to think about: Using a different font for the word OSHQ just to see how it looks. Also, a sort of gradient effect on the text might make it look more creative (Still undecided on that, however). Just play around with a few variations of your submission and we might be able to come up with something amazing (right now it is brilliant ).


Ariestoteles:

Right now you're the only person that has submitted a header, and we really appreciate that . The fact that this is currently a one man race isn't the reason why your header seems great to us.

I really can't think of any changes to be made, other than playing around with some coloring effects and maybe adding a paper-clipped note to the top right hand corner so we can add in specials.

I was just looking over this contest and I decided that I'm not going to enter because of how there are already so many great entries (and I don't have much time to compete with what is there) and I like the sticky note idea you have. However, I was just curious about your promotion strategy with awarding both a header and logo. Are you planning on using the logo winners logo into the header winners header? Because if you aren't I think it would be a bad idea to have essentially 2 logos shown to your visitors (One in the header of every webpage and another in your letterheads for emails or whatever else you may place it in).

 

I was thinking of having the logo next to the header on the homepage. Both the logo and header would have the same background.

The company is still in its early stages, so I haven't decided how everything is going to look - just need some designs done
