I'm leaning Fred! right now (BTW, when mentioning Fred!, the ! is not optional, its mandatory), but he has a recent history of giving speeches that are a bit of let down, not much energy to them. When he gets in, he has to change that quickly or its a charge that'll stick.
I agree...he has some work to do, but the public seems to be drawing to him for right now. I am still holding out hoping Newt jumps in the ring, but not sure if he will do that or not.

I know who he is but I can't find anything special about him. It seems the only reason Media is interested in him and makes a big deal is because of his acting role in Law & Order. This is a better choice Sam Waterston as Jack McCoy.
No doubt it helps - especially with name recognition; but you should really pay more attention if you think that's the reason. You clearly are not following what's going on. What's so special about anyone running for the office? This is the concept of elections; to see who the best candidate is. I don't really need to explain the concept to you, do I?
And that is the reason I think that Sam Waterston (Jack McCoy) is a better candidate since he had a bigger role in Law & Order.
Why does anyone run for public office? My guess is that ego has a lot to do with the decision and BTW, Fred Thompson has a beautiful wife that is decades younger than he is. Now that is something to warm up to on election day!!
It's because he stands for what most of the far right Republican base stands for. So of course he's the ideal candidate. And there's nothing wrong with that. The southern red state folk love him! He's also the ideal candidate for liberals because as long as he continues to support the war he'll be an easy victory for whomever the democratic nominee is.
I never thought about Fred that way, but now that you mentioned it he does kind of look like Nixon. However, I do not think he has the same buttoned down personality!!
