Utah 'Fredheads' gather for SLC rally - 4 show up!

Turnout is small, but backers hail Thompson's conservative stands, say ex-senator can win

A handful of Utah "Fredheads" - political activists supporting the late entry of Republican Fred Thompson into the presidential sweepstakes - gathered Thursday in Salt Lake City to kick off their campaign for the oldest fresh face in the race.
Just four Thompson supporters showed up at Utah Republican Party headquarters for the event, leaving dozens of untouched cookies and vegetable snacks provided in hopes a much bigger crowd would materialize.
Those present listened in on a live nationally broadcast conference call in which the new candidate thanked his supporters and told them he would be the candidate who wouldn't just give lip service to topics such as the war in Iraq.
"It's time to be resolute and firm," he said. "We face enemies who have no conscience and follow no rules."
That strong military rhetoric is what drew both Jennifer Stephens, of Salt Lake, City, and Byran Best, of Magna, both former Marines.
"While he was in the Senate, I liked his stance on the war," Best said, adding Thompson also fit his Christian values.
Brenda Caine of Salt Lake City said Thompson's timing in entering the race was "wonderful."
"America has been on vacation all summer, and now [voters are] starting to pay attention," she said.
She views Thompson as the only Republican who is strong on all areas, ranging Advertisementfrom his anti-abortion views to talking frankly about problems with Social Security "He's a solid conservative," she said, adding that his acting experience allows him to better communicate with the media and personally connect with people through television.

Grant Lynn, state coordinator of Fredheads USA, hosted the gathering and said Thompson has "a really good chance" of winning the election. "People should look and see if his values match theirs," he said. "If it feels right, they should support him."

Most polls of Republican voters have Thompson in second place, behind Rudy Giuliani, or third, behind Giuliani and Mitt Romney.

I suppose that's why Thompson was polling 15-20 times higher than Ron Paul before he even announced.

    Wait...what's 15 x 0% National Support that RP had?

15x.0 hmm? Any math whizzes here? :D

Who said anything about Ron Paul?

4 came out.....do the math. I suppose that if Dr. Paul had a rally and only 4 showed up you would bring up some useless poll numbers...LOL Don't be a tool.

If you stop acting like a little boy and don't suck up to your big daddy or special friends like Gtech and little willy then people don't need to comment on your posts. :D

rofl that's sweet irony right there...

The party which touts itself as the party of the church (along with it's pediphile man-boy love association) and has had more sexual scandals than the democrats over the last 10 years 10 to 1.

I mean this is the age of senator craig and foley (white house page scandal) and all republicans can talk about is how Clinton got some head... :D

Republicans form the gayest party hands down. No contest.

Party or the liberal far left. You do know there's a difference don't you? Are you confused?

Now if you mean being open to hear what gays have to say and supporting their right to have civil unions without calling it "marriage" is putting gays on a pedestal I think that confirms that description of you. Confused.

I mean Democrats could just be like Republicans and blast even the notion of allowing gays to exist much less get married. They could base those assertions on standing behind the bible and calling it the right thing to do "morally" because they too are confused and don't know the difference between religious morality and simple compassion. Then go have sex with young church boys and frolick around in bathrooms. Would that work for you?
