Just to update this thread. It looks like this submitter won the dispute with paypal and got his money back. Today I got the following email from paypal:

And this submitter opened up a paypal dispute on another directory I own today claiming that the funds were unauthorized as well...

I don't understand why paypal is giving him 2 opportunities to reverse the same transaction. You'd figure once they investigate it once, that would be the end of the story.

Duran does not respond, shockingly. Then, the words that would haunt him forever, flow from his battered lips: ''No mas, no mas,'' he tells the referee. ''No more box.''

No mas Fraudulent Directory Submitter No mas

two wrongs don't make it right. i know you know that ;)

soooo..... what i propose is this:

    delete from `PLD_LINK` where `URL` like '%dirmania.org%'

now EVERYONE needs to go into their phpmyadmin and run that query.
bye bye dirmania.org from ALL web directories.

See, I know how to hurt in a much more efficient way ;)

I didn't understand this thread very well. You guys mean the owner of dirmania is scammer? I thought it is a decent directory at least before I read this thread...

I thought PayPal were supposed to be investigating this? All they have to do to verify that he got what he paid for is to visit the directories and do a search. Am I missing something here?

That's the weird part. Paypal did an investigation, and finished it and let me know that the transactions were authorized. I even got an email from the site owner on the very day telling me to make sure that I put the links in my directories.

Then immediately the site owner launched a second complaint for the exact same transactions, and was successful the second time around. I don't understand how paypal can do a second investigation of the same transactions and come to a different conclusion, especially when I have an email from the site owner telling me to make sure I add the sites to my directories. I mean, if he didn't authorize the transactions, how would he have known to email me on the exact day he lost the first investigation telling me to add his sites?

Who did this and this :D and here is another one

Anyway, I am one of the lucky ones. I checked my records and it was submitted when my directory was free and I rejected it for keyword stuffing the title.

The exact same thing that happened to Jeff also happened here. It's indeed crazy, but at least a lesson was learned.

One of the ways to work with such guys is to

Add the url to your directory and ban them.

So, they could not add again, if you have check for duplicate on.

    my $0.02

    Thanks

The right method of punishment for this swindle - write to google about fraudulent link building (with link to this thread). Google's ban for these sites awesome thing.
