Anyone dare to provide an informed guess or estimate on the percentage of fraudulent clicks in comparison to the overall campaigns in Google AdWords? Quite a few people use tracking software like Click Defense yet I'd like to know some figures first prior to investing in such things. Any stats available / you can share?
Depends on the industry. Fraud is higher in Property, Asbestos law - anything with really good returns.. not alot of click fraud in board games thats for sure
Yeah I guess so, hadn't thought about that. The category would be 'general e-tailing'. Resources like http://www.payperclickuniverse.com/click-fraud.php mention 10% - 50%. Even if it was 5% investing in a tracking script that can help recoup the lost money is definitely worth it.
I think fraud clicks are about 40-50% of the total of all clicks. Its inconceivable that paid listings convert at 50% less than natural listings.
That's an interesting way of looking at it but a bit over-generalized IMO. Anyway, if most agree it's at least a couple percent, I'm not gonna solely rely on Google's own technology to protect my money.
it depends on the term. Webmosting probably has the highest % of fraud I suspect. I con't confirm it but I can just imagine a pack of techno minded hosting providers clickin on each others ads.
40-50% Wow, thats a lot! I myself have an adsense ad on the google search engine only, for the keyword "banner exchange". It converts at 15-25%, so I am pretty sure that there are not many fraudulent clicks. But it is not a high paying keyword...
