frames vs xoops

How do you compare framed pages against Xoops dynamic pages regarding PR?

So far I have developed several plain HTML sites and I wish to build a new one. Is it wise to move to PHP dynamic pages?

Aside from long URL's and lots of "?", the program handles only one header and one footer template, so all content run the same title and keywords metatags.

I don't wish to ask a question like that in the Xoops Forum for obvious reason.

I don't know anything about Xoops, but I would definitely advise you not to switch to frames. I am sure there are other options besides xoops or frames for you to choose from.

Like dazzlin I do not know about xoops but I have played around a lot with Mambo, Nuke, Drupal....in fact it is available, installed, on my cpanel but I've not tested it because I can not get my head around the same problem that you have perceived... the page titles... as well as a number of other factors.

In fact if you want to see them all here they are

    http://www.deli-world.com/mambo/
    http://www.deli-world.com/drupal/
    http://www.deli-world.com/PostNuke/

What I resolved was a combination site would work better to achieve my aims.

Now you should know that I was a staunch supporter of frames as there are some things you can do with them that are nigh impossible other ways BUT whilst in the past you could achieve reasonable SEO positions using the noframes part of frames it is my opinion now that frames should only be used in a supporting role and never to achieve a good position in the search engines.

So what I am doing now is using an index.php [converted from the index.html] and then using three or more different php units to make up the site from a forum, blog, open-realty but also keeping some statics. In fact the ski site below [I am still tweaking the style so please excuse some detail problems] is using a index.html but leading into 2x realty php units, a book php and a blog plus if you look at the alternative vertical view of apartments you will see how I retain the frames in the site.

I will change the index.html to a php in due course but you may well say that the header/footer will be the same - and this is true but obviously one can use header1, header2 etc especially when you have different facets to your site like this one.

Since I have changed the sites to php and this format I have seen dramatic and almost instantaneous upwards movements in all Serps.

    It is worth doing

    ;)

i have used e-xoops on one of my sites, and google jusr does not like it... although it has cached the pages it has "greyed out" the pr bar :(

Having looked around several of the CMS programs sites I have yet to see one that has pr for most of the sites internal pages (apart from the 1st page of a sub section) :( so i will be removing mine when i have the time.
