ok, so i found a blog within our industry which is HUGE! when doing some research of our competition, i noticed that they had one-way links coming from that blog...in the comments...they aren't using nofollows. all of the links are highly relevant and PR5 or better. it's almost too good to be true because i can't understand why a site like this wouldn't use nofollow's. anyway, my natural reaction is to go spam the hell out of the blog with a hundred comments, but i know that i'll raise a red flag and most likely tip them off about the "hole" in their game. so, any suggestions on how i should play this? i know eventually they're going to catch on, but for the time being...

well, i don't necessarily need to ask to advertise. i can leave a comment, and my link will count because the lack of nofollow. we're not desperate, so i'm not going to spam it. plus, we still have a reputation to uphold. it's just very rare finding such an opportunity, and i want to capitalize to the fullest.

Submit a comment that adds value to the post and add your link at the end.
I think this is fair use.

Do that, and nicely email the owner and ask if he/she would be willing to make arrangements, too.

A sig file in a blog would only make it though the mod queue if the text above it was worthy of being read. You'd really do better (for you and the blog you are commenting on) if you posted something constructive to the entry in question.

Squeezing off a blog comment with your link inside of it should not be all that hard, assuming you know what you are talking about and have discussed whatever it is on your own site. For instance, I have already talked about blog comments on my site (Link Building with Blog Comments) so fitting it into this thread and having it in context is not all that hard. In fact, pointing to it almost seems to be a natural thing.

Where as most of my signature is a bit out of place, and I'm not just referring to it topicality wise.
