Found My Niche and What Would You Recommend????....

    Okay DP Members,

After everyone always told me to find a great, untouched niche, I have found one getting thousands of hits and searches a day, yet only a couple (around 5) of around 50 keywords have competition for them - and not much of it...

It is a history related niche....

So competition is low, but search/demand is high. I would like to use White Hat seo methods, as I need a long term money maker.

What type of marketing would be best for this type of niche?

Should I sell peoples ebooks as an affiliate, but only the ones related to my niche?

Would you sell items, other peoples ebooks, write up your own ebooks and sell them, or what would you do to gain the most money, build the best site, and take over the niche?

I am looking to write articles daily, many times per day. I am just looking for the best way to go about building the site fast, so I can sit back and write for the site.

Any help on building the site, or any links to helpful websites or ebooks to help me build my site up, please let me know.

I am looking for any help here! I am fairly new and recently just purchased a domain, so I could use any help!

    Thanks Everyone!!

    Can anyone help at all?

If you did something similar, finding your own hot niche and made a site, and made money, can you please tell me the way you did it?

Really any help or references to get help would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

IMO,this kind of site is hard to promote coz not many people is interested in history.
But you can promote it using blog commenting/directory submission.
While for monetize, you can affiliate with travel company such as if your site visitor going to visit a historical place organize by the traveling company, then you earn commission by referring a client to them.

Develop a niche site and promote a related offer. Not to burst your bubble but I don't think a history topic would be a very hot niche, it's not very commercial in nature.

I would advise you to go ahead and make the site. Since the demand is high and competition is low there is not any problem for losing money.

    Thanks for all the advice.

Something I don't understand is how someone could say that it is not popular. I have 5 note book pages full of keywords and their searches for the last 3 months and everything is getting 8,000 - 60,000 searches per month, and they do have some competition, but the sites are not specialized in the topic, they only have an article or two about it....

I am also looking into making a health website... Are these health site, like nutrition, muscle building, fitness, exercise websites too over rated? or is there still room to find a place to create a niche site on? I have done some research and found some keywords and such but I don't want to waste the time.

Here's a little more about me...

I have written so many health articles I could spit out health articles for months....

I am currently in this History class for my college degree, and the topic of the class is the topic of interest I was asking about.... I also am very interested in reading stories on this history topic, so it would be fun for me..

I am also into a MMO video game, I am in college, I like to write, I like tuning cars (like hondas), I like traveling, and I have also been skateboarding for 8 years......

Any ideas on niche websites I could start in those topics?

I am not looking for you to say, "Hey I have this great niche, here....", as I have seen many people leave nasty comments asking the thread owner "WTF!! Who would ever give up a good niche!" haha.

I am just asking for a general direction of where you think I should research into, based on my interests.

Thanks for all the response so far!

Any other help in creating a website would help!

If you provide services to build niche websites, write, or anything else that I may need help on, send me a PM with your services.
(I am not advertising, and I know that goes into Buy, Sell, and Trade. I am just mentioning, if you have any services, like ones you charge for instead of providing on this thread, let me know.)

    Thanks for all the help,

    -Chris

Start a blog where you can write posts on how can do stuffs related to cars

    its quite saturated.

I guess you would be having a knack of identifying the best equipments for skateboarding so u can start website selling skateboards and ramps. u can start tutorial too..about how to skate.

Health sites are over crowded. you can succeed but it will take lot of effort and financing.

The KW that you have got are from google adwords tool?? Check them by phrase match. if they are still 8000-60000 then its good. broad match is misleading.

on the same google KW tool...

If the KW is: I rock the world

then use the Phrase match in the tool..on the right of "approx avg search" there is "match type"..put a phrase match and then find the demand.

now it will show demand for "i rock the world"...with quotation marks

Hey, yea it narrowed some down a bit, but that setting is great. (Guess I should watch more turitorials on these tools next time, haha...)

    Thanks, rome9t9!

Is finding a niche really this hard? I mean, the history niche still has good amount of searches, with very low competition, yet I want to find something my time I spend will benefit...

I am looking to put 8 hours a day, at least, into building the site. I am in college so all my free time will go into it to build it and see if this project can help make me some tuition money....

Any more help would be greatly appreciated!

visit sitepoint.com forum and in the SEO section you will find a sticky thread by JJ McClure explaining how keyword analysis is done. check it out. If competition is low then its fine.

If you target fianance and health then you need both time and money.

Since your still in college, see if you can take a history class relating to the niche your wanting to create a site for. Back in college I took a world war 2 history class from an amazing professor. He lived through WW2 and 90% of what he said is extremely hard to find in any books. He brought in a WW2 vet who was one of the first OSS agents (Office of Strategic Services) which is now the CIA. This WW2 vet has such amazing stories, about being dropped into occupied France on solo missions, about having his leg broken by a German officer who suspected him as a spy but couldn't prove it.

My point is, that if you find a class about your niche you can take notes and then have lots of information to display on your site. Lot's of people are interested in history (mostly males) you could try selling military memorabilia or history channel videos or etc.

    Good luck!

    Hey,

Thanks for the site rome9t9, ill go check it out.

Hey, Topfrog007, that is exactly my idea. I just started this history course and as I was searching for a niche, the course poped into my head and I found all the keywords and such. I am just trying to make sure if it is the right topic to make a website about, or if I should try something else...

So far, the history site is looking promising, but I am still doing more and more research, to make sure of course.

    Thanks for all the help!

    Anyone else have ideas?
