I have tried alot of virus software programs, but the overall best one that I

have found is called Avast! Anti Virus, Avast comes with a free one year trial

which can be re-subscribed to again if you don't want to pay. The avast

software restarts your computer when you download it a goes through all of

your files, after that it constantly monitors your files on an ongoing basis.

This software is fully compatible with Microsoft windows. When I used this

software it found at least ten virus that my other three virus programs could ]

not find. I was also using Norton Anti-Virus, AVG , and Windows defender,

but Avast proved to be the best one for me. You can Find a free download at

AVAST!'s home page, make sure it is a Free trial other wise it is a scam, If

you can't find the AVAST's homepage send me a PM.

Ah, good call friend, I also prefer Avant, it's just as quality a product as Norton, if not updated more thoroughly. :]

You have mentioned that it restarts again after finishing the download everytime. That may prove very difficult buddy. Most of them would lose their patience to wait to get restarted. And restart in the sense, the entire system will get restarted or only the browser window.

It restarts your computer once to do a complete system scan to make sure it checks all of the files on your computer for viruses then it constantly monitors all new and old files. It only restarts your computer once.

The freebie anti-virus (avast, avg, etc) do not fair very well in tests. I'd recommend Nod32, Bitdefender, F-secure or Kaspersky. All are great on detecting both identified and unidentified viruses and are light on system resources(Nod32 has the smallest resource footprint of the three). Whatever you do don't get Trend-micro, Norton, or Mcafee a recent test showed that it fails to protect against up to 80% of malware!!!! http://www.zdnet.com.au/blogs/securifythis/soa/Why-popular-antivirus-apps-do-not-work-/0,139033343,139264249,00.htm

I had bad experiences with aVast. It missed some key detections. But... I worked for virus blocking, but didn't monitor email very well. So I dumped it and bought Norton 07', which has worked great.. I think I read in PC mag or something similar a review for avast that gave it only a C+.

Avast have won so many awards, its light and its free! Norton is heavy on the system and let so many viruses throught... That is my experience. The only thing that avast could do better is how they deal with cookies but every major threat I have ever encountered has been dealt with quickly...

    Avast is A++

I have been using avast for the past six months and it is really good. It is free that is the most important thing. Finally a last nail has been driven in to the coffin of the paid anti virus software marketers. Full points to Avast. It is simply the best:D

I have use Avast 2 years back and frankly I don't like it. Now I use Kaspersky 6.
The AV is much much better than avast and doesn't require much resources.

I found avast to be annoying because it block my Filezilla. It slows down my PC. I just uninstall it and back using AVG.

AVG is by far the best. I haven't had any major trouble with it and it doesn't consume much ram
