It just so happens I found a gold mine and I want to grab it as fast as possible for a special site I'm going to be rolling with. Not only that but this name was researched and it's perfect for me to secure the organic traffic flow of it quickly. The domain is taken for the .com which sucks. It looks like the the dude has had the thing parked for over 5 years and is trying to sell it for $8000 (good luck buddy). But I have the freedom to choose whatever other than .com I want, but I'm not sure. They say that google doesn't rank these any differant, but I'm not too sure on that one. Which should I go with.(it's a learning type site): .info, .net, .org, .us, or .what?
The .net should be the next priority followed by the .org . The .info will be the last unless it is a pure info based sites.
You think google considers then when they are differant or it is all the same until you look for an apprasial?
As far as search engines are concerned, the TLD which you use does not make a different whatsoever. It is more just an issue with the human perspection thing. The best would be the .com because if your visitors type in the domain name, you may lose some traffic to the .com alternative. If it is possible continue looking for a good .com alternative then point them both to the same name.
For a learning site, .org might be better. I would get both .net and .org. Then post the domain here and we'll let you know which looks better =0)
I chose the .net Mainly because I don't like the .org myself. It's too bad I can't mention the url here yet just because I don't want any competitors to come up before I've even started. I'm kind of excited. The domain keywords have only 4 main competitors with this niche and the search is over 100,000. I'm hoping for good luck with this project. I got a feeling that finally this may be my break.
Since there's no .com available, the next best choice would be .net imo. Avoid .info as much as possible..
Everyone here says that .info is bad... I really like .info... My list would go .com, then .net and .info would be tied (depending on the type of site)... If it is a informational site or a niche, then definitely use .info...
