Found a keyword with no competition but some monthly search volume

    Hello,

I found a keyword with no competition and it has about 9000+ searches monthly. Is this good enough to get a domain name with this keyword or should I try looking for better keywords?

I've seen some marketers tell it's not worth it unless there's no competition and more than 30,000 searches but I think it is hard to actually find stuff like this nowadays...

It depends on the keyword, is it something people will type in when they are actually looking to buy something?

Also, bear in mind that the Adwords keyword tool is wildly inaccurate, so don't depend on this figure. Never build a site around a single keyword unless you are 100% sure it will pay and you can optimise for it, make sure there are other related terms which have the potential to pay out.

Only someone who is completely incapable of optimising a website would have made a statement like this, I would be amazed if there is a PAYING keyword out there which fits that criteria.

No, the keyword isn't really something you search for if you are determined to buy something BUT people would type in this keyword if they are looking advice for their personal problems. I also found ebooks on clickbank about this topic... I really don't want to tell you what it is yet because to me it really seems like something :p

May I ask how did you check the competition? Was it on Market Samurai? If not, may I suggest you try running a query on MS. It has a module called "SEO competition" - not sure if this is included in the free trial, but I think it's worth the full price anyway.

i would suggest you to check out the intentions of people who are searching about this keyword. if it is about selling some thing or some e-commerce based then you must buy a domain and keep on doing work on other seo factors

You could buy the domain and put up a fairly basic site, then if there really is no major competition, you should be able to optimise it to page 1 without too much work, if you have Analytics installed it will give you real statistics (an other potential keywords) then if it looks like you are right about it, you put in the work to develop the site fully and push it to the top of the page.

It doesn't hurt to give it a shot, does it?

Do you have an affiliate programme in that niche? If you do, look at possible conversion rates and do the math- see whether it could be worthwhile for you to go further into that sector.

Make sure you are looking at the exact match and not broad match for the keyword.

I'd recommend using the Keyword Research Service by KeywordShack to look for additional optimization on longer tails of that same keyword. The overall long tail search volume (exact matches and broad search) might actually make this keyword of yours a goldmine-you just have to research properly, and with the free 7 day trial on KeywordShack it's easier than ever.

Make your own strategy. 9000+ searches good enough if it is exact searches. no of searches depend of niche and how your going to monetize them.

A domain won't cost you much, right? So why don't you go for it if you have time? If that does not work out you have nothing to loose. Take it as some kind of experiment. Good Luck :)

9000 Searches are good if you just make a static page, add adsense then just use it as an income source in the background.
