Many people are scouring up-to-date satellite images of Nevada to try to spot Mr Fossett's downed plane or wreckage.
Google maps isnt real time tho is it. i know that the latest map image of my house was taken over 16 months ago now which is really supprising, but it was at least that long ago as it hasnt go our conservatory in the pic which was fitted back then.
It's Google Earth, which is different than Google Maps, and the images of the large area where the plane likely is are up-to-date.
This is actually a very cool idea. I guess Google has updated their satellite photos of the area that the plane would likely be found in.
They should develop a software that is made for this. Using Google Earth, do a comparison of images from the area before the crash and after. A good software program could probably point out locations that displayed a difference.
Interesting marketing ploy. You can help find lost people, but you have to have to buy our product first. Otherwise, I think it could be incredibly handy and a good cause, if they allow people to assist in finding downed planes or other good causes. It's the "distributed computing" version of satellite image analysis.
