I used to do business under the domain name www.EvergreenArt.com I now use the domain www.EJFineArt.com In my EvergreenArt hosting panel I just clicked on redirect and entered my new domain. I have no idea how to check if this is the correct way to setup the forwarding or if google will think duplicate content and punich the new domain. Can someone offer some insight into this please. Thanks
Your host is using a 302 temporary redirect. You should be using a 301. See: http://www.webconfs.com/http-header-check.php There are a variety of methods of doing 301's - You can use .htaccess, meta-refresh, or a small php application that issues the 301. Read this thread: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=23044 for information on .htaccess . And also look through this forum: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=49 Good luck! -jay
even with 301 you will need some time to recover rank spiders will still try to crawl sub pages from your old domain
