Forward slash vs no slash = same page to google?

    Hi all,

I have a site that has some reasonable rankings on Google. The urls are in the format:

    www.mysite.com/this+is+my+page/

My question is, if I change the url to

    www.mysite.com/this+is+my+page

will that affect anything as far is google is concerned? Will google consider it a new page and re-index it / re-rank it?

It would just be changing something in the .htaccess that adds a trailing "/", but I'd hate to do it and screw up all my good rankings.

    Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.

Yes Google will consider it a new page, and you will loose PR on the new non slash URL.

    Hi nairbuoyevoli,

    Don't worry,

If the information of both pages are the same, SE will treat it the same page.
If not, SE will consider these a whole different pages...

I've read about it once on seomoz..
