    I've noticed that the digitalpoint forum (this forum) use meta tags for every thread where it includes one keyword: the title and the meta description is the page number + the thread title + the section name

    Etc:

    <meta name="keywords" content="PageRank/Back Link Update (2/18/2006)" />
    <meta name="description" content="Page 37 - PageRank/Back Link Update (2/18/2006) (from Google)" />
    Code (markup):
    ___________________________________

    Is this really something useful?

    Ok, I included the title in the keyword tag and the description tag. Just the title, nothing more. Will this increase my rankings for all threads?

    The meta tags don't have much effect (if any) on the rankings.

    But they are the main thing that search engines use when adding the description of your site that people see in the search results so you need to make them attractive to people.

    Yes awesome point Mad4.

    Why waste a perfect opportunity to tell the search engines and potential visitors exactly what your website is about?

    I see people not maximising their descriptions all the time. Big mistake.

    Don't remove them. They are still probably worth something just not very much.

    if each page have diferent metas, headers and titles in 1 site, this would be great for SE's, and thats what that does.

    Some people(yo-yo etc) still pretends that keywords is important. I remember that he said: "You can write as much content as you want but you want get any visitors if you don't have the right keywords."
