So what is the difference of having a sub-domain forum from a folder forum? If you have forums.digitalpoint.com is there a difference from having digitalpoint.com/forums? Which one is better and why? thanks.
If the forum is related directly to the main site, go with the subfolder and use trailing slash (domain.com/forum/) subdomains are treated as own site so generally you should use subdomains if they are unrelated to main site
Absolutely - from a SEO persperctive sub-domains makes things much more difficult. A sub-domain will have separate page-strength/link popularity from the main site - a sub-folder will share strength with the main site. Dylan
forums.domain.com is like a new site with new google pagerank so I prefer domain.com/forums much more!
I prefer the /forum but DigitalPoint has the forums.digitalpoint.com. Up to you really no biggie. Dylan Tovey offered you the best explanation.
