But, remember, don't spammy the forum, many of them are zero tolerance now. SO, take part in and contribute to it, then get a little bit backlinks.

 

Unfortunately (oh wait, what am I saying... FORTUNATELY) forum signature links are practically worthless from a ranking standpoint.

 

Forum links are great if the forum is related to your niche - in other words if you get relevant links from a forum that is very closely related to your site.

If you use your anchor text well, then the links are pretty good.

However, it's not worth getting a thousand links from just one forum. Pick 5 to 10 forums in your niche and get 10 to 20 links from each. Mind you, these days it's not that easy to find that many good forums in a niche that accepts signatures and are dofollow.
