Forums.php a good choice?

I just changed some things on my site; i renamed index.php to forums.php and portal.php to index.php.
I changed the new forums index in the adminpanel too (vbulletin).
I did this so i don't need the htaccess redirect to portal.php.

Is it smart to use forums.php from a seo point of view?

I don't think it matters at all.

    I agree.

Although, changing from portal.php to index.php is a good idea I think.

Not using redirects at all seems best to me but i'm not sure if it's the same with this:
    DirectoryIndex portal.php index.php index.html
    Code (markup):
My domain has a PR of 3, my index has a PR of 2, will there be any problems if i change it?
also, i've read somewhere that forum(s) is a 'poison' word?
I turned it back for now.

Well, for people who try and gain direct access to your forum, if they type in /index.php and it doesn't have anything show up, it may deter them.

Personally, I think index.php simply suits forums better, as it takes you to the Forum Index, but that's just me. :)

I don't know the SE effects of forums.php, but from a visitor's standpoint, I think it's a good idea. I can't hardly recall any times in which I actually type index.php into the address bar to get to a forum and I don't see many people doing that either.

I'd say forums.php looks much more unique than index.php....To the non-tech savvy crowd it will make much more sense as well. Again, I have no clue what the SE effects are, but don't believe there are any.
