    Hello,

Probably just a preference but any idea on which one to use over the other format when setting up a new forum?

    Thanks

I just recently switched from subdomain.domain.cmo to domain.com/folder as my main site had fewer pages and less content than the forums. Now all content and pages are now in domain.com and it is now seen as a much larger site by big G.
    just a thought.

I did the switch a month ago after the forums were up for about a year. Confused the heck out of Google, but no drop in rankings (at least not yet)..I figure google will understand what happened in a month or two.

But if you get bad spam/links/bad language, in your forums and Google finds it before you do, it could reflect badly on the rest of the site.

Just use the top domain if the 'for now' is going to take a few years.

agree with the bad links...but im pretty diligent with forum spam. Speaking of which, i have geen getting a heck of a lot from mother Russia

If I had to redo, I would not go with a subdomain from the get go.
