hey, I am trying to get some forums going for my site. I have the option to "quick install" phpbb forums but we found that they were hard to work with and were having a hard time with them so someone suggest mybb. After hours and hours of trying to get mybb installed on my site it just is not going to work. I was wondering if anyone knew good free forums, or even a good hosting company that comes with forums that work well or easily with adsense and can be customized without too much hastle. I also know vbulletin is probably the best option but i don't have an extra 100$ to spend just on forums alone. if there is a hosting company that offers vbulletin that would be great however. all in all I need help finding decent forums that can be customtized and that adsense can be used on.
You could run SMF (Simple Machines Forum - simplemachines.org), with the Ad Management mod added. Works like a charm.
