Forums back links vs articles

Hi all, I am new here and slowly trying to get a grip on SEO I wanted to understand whether article submission sites have the same usefulness in terms of page SEO as forums. I ask this purely based on page rank as opposed to content. (Although I always try and post useful and professional wording online)

cheers and thanks for your time replying, appreciated.

I prefer sites with as little possible outbound links as possible, so I try to put my focus on getting links from basic html sites with a high pagerank.

Thanks for quick reply Timmy, ok I have tried looking at my backlinks online using some web tools and some site report for example 237 OBL (outbounds) does this mean to my site or just there are 237 outbound links to ANY websites from that page?

Are you saying the lower the OBL no. the better for SEO?

    cheers

There required more struggle, creativity and research work to draft an article and therefor carries more weight then foryum posting. If you start off with article writing, you will observe you become more active in the forum participation and have greater knowledge through these article writing process.

well, forum links are no-follow while article submission links are follow...there you go! Alternate your blog commenting and forum posting strategy.

    It's like:

    - Write a new blog daily (MUST!) - one hour
    - Write on extra short article or just use your old blog posts to submit daily on the content sharing sites and a few of your own blog networks (for mainly, Backlinks and perhaps, Traffic) - one hour
    - Post on Forums and Comment on Blogs (for mainly, Traffic and perhaps, Backlinks)

That's it - your daily schedule.

not all forum links are no-follow, and forum posting can be a great way to get links that are quickly indexed. Nice SEO schedule...how many other sites do you submit your article to, and how many forum and blogs to you post to?

Article backlinks are a lot better in my opinion, but it is a lot easier to get a forum backlink. So I think you should get a lot of forum backlinks and a few strong article backlinks. Try to use high pr forums for a better use of your time.

Absolutely! Forums are mainly for Traffic. It is more like participating in the community. While writing articles is more like publishing editorial content. Both have different purposes and scope, nonetheless.

I would suggest submitting your best article to EzineArticles first. Why, because EZA is owned by google and is huge, so your article will rank very well compared to other article directories. Then, spin your article and submit to each of the other directories, and/or use a product like SEOLinkVine that will automatically distribute your spinable article (with backlinks you've added to it!) to blog owners looking for content.

Ah my favorite " whats better forum posting or aticle submission post, thats made at least once a week"

    Long term gains article submission.

Forum backlinks are for short terms gain and also handy is your building backlinks to those articles.

And you WASTE your efforts on just presenting a well-written article to an article directory? So, you are writing one article for EZA and one extra for your blog?

Why would take such pain? Re establish your SEO strategy, friend!

Forum posting and article writing both are good for traffic and back links. Just you should do proper work on both places. Your article should be unique and informative. Forum posting is also according rules and you can put daily post of your blog on forum and can get lots of visitors and back links.
    goarticles
    articlepool
    articlebase
and most popular site ezinearticle. try these sites for submission and get result.

Please forgive me if I was not clear. Since EZA is so powerful, they are also among the most stringent regarding duplicate content. Since you don't want to risk getting your EZA account cancelled for duplicate material, you should get your article accepted there first. Then, rewrite the article using spin syntax such as:
The {quick|fast} {brown|gray|red} fox jumped over the lazy dog. This will get you many copies of your article with 40%-50% unique content where you can submit each one to the many different article directories out there. Then, since article dirs usually have restrictions on the number of backlinks to your site, you can add more backlinks to your article and with the spin syntax use apps like SEOLinkVine to automatically distribute unique articles to bloggers looking for content.

The purpose is to get as much mileage out of one article as possible.
Again, my apologies if I was not clear.
