Has anyone had any luck posting on forums to generate traffic? In other words, are there any forums that let you put your URL in your signature and generate significant traffic just from the clicks you get by posting there?

Has anyone else had any success with this?

Is it from URLs in your signature? If so, can you share the site(s) where you post? Christian Forums and Mysticwicks let you put your URL in your signature w/o cost. Are there any others??

I hardly get any hits from posting, I would say that poping a link in your sig will not hurt but don't expect traffic to come flooding in. I would say your time would be better spent writing articles for your forum then posting in forums.

DigitalPoint is not a bad site for posting a link in your sig so why don't you give it a try here first?

to answer your question here is a list of websites anyway, if you want to give it a go.

Yeah, I'm starting to think that way, but I wanted to see if someone somehow had discovered a "silver bullet"...

Forum posting has generated very little traffic for me in the past. It should be only one of many ways to generate traffic, do not rely solely on that!

I get two to the three times more traffic from twitter than google, yahoo and bing combined. It's a lot of work though.

Also, how do you use facebook? I don't see how facebook reaches out to people and advertises for you? Twitter does that with the following/follower thing, but there is no equivalent with facebook is there?

I would love to see a response to this, I have been considering using facebook myself but I'm not sure how to go about it.

Yes, forum marketing is used by alot of IM'ers (myself included). Forums are great because you know they are targeted (possibly the most targeted method of generating traffic). If you can tap into the forum and offer your advise and expertise within your niche, you can eventually add your website url in the signature of your account and gain TONS of traffic.
