yes, you can do it for free with phpBB + free hosting too. But I suggest you to go for premium hosting because free hosting sometimes very slow.

 

I agree do phpbb unless
you have money to spend on vb.
Make sure you have something unique and
interesting which makes visitors join your forum. Do
propper seo on it tke time dont rush it. Start out with a few
boards too i notice on a lot of forums they ad too many people like to see
more post and topics. good luck its a hard area to get into main think is stick with it the
first two years i bet would be the hardest unless like i said you have money for ppc things like that

 

i think mybb is more advance than phpbb

 

You can use mybb, in my opinion is the best free forum script.
