This is the wrong forum area for that. But you can run a forum freely on the free forum software that does not require a license. I know vBullitin requires one and it is illegal to run without

I really wouldn't recommend that. Unless you're using an off-shore host (in which case many will just brush off complaints from Invision Power Services) you'll be suspended in no time.

If you really want, Try the demo and see if it's worth buying. Then if you like it, purchase the license, hosting and you're good to go.

There are free forum hosts around that serve IPB, but if you're serious about running a community you want to stay away from them. They offer no room for expansion, no facility to incorporate unique features and you'll have to pay gargantuan prices for things like Ad-Removal.

I still wouldn't recommend it, because arguably it's stealing.

A nulled forum script is (as you probably know) a premium forum script that has been hacked in such a way that the user does not need to enter a serial number or any other means of verification that suggests they've paid for it. At the end of the day you're taking a piece of software that a group of people have spent many years of their lives working on, not to mention the thousands of users who pay for the software...and you're using it for free without giving anything back.

It's a matter of principle. Would you walk into a shop and walk out with a $150 item without paying for it?

Well if you want to start talking different forum softwares I suggest you Search out your answer, because that discussion has been done to death here.

In response to your question though, phpBB is open source so you can download, install and run it completely free of charge, all they ask is that you leave the backlink to phpBB.com in the footer. It's a very good software package though, the forum I co-run has been powered by phpBB since the days of phpBB2 and it's never let us down. Granted some features are lacking from the likes of vBulletin and IPB, and the Administration Control Panel isn't particularly user friendly to those new to the software...although once you're used to it there are some very powerful features such as the permission system - arguably the best in the forum software industry. Any feature that's missing can be added by installing a MOD from phpBB.com and it's actually very easy to customise in terms of creating a unique design (as long as you're good with xHTML / CSS)...if not, there are many free style databases online.

Whichever forum solution you end up using please keep it legal, and good luck ;)
