Hi, yes, as I mentioned in the first sentence of my description of the site, the "forum is dead". As in, no active members. As I mentioned, the value is in the domain, the database, the traffic, the number of pages indexed in search engines, and such. It would take some work to make it an active forum again, or you can just let it lay dead and use the weight in the Coop. Doesn't matter much to me, but I do think I'm being clear that I'm not selling an active forum.

New they're $160. If you're the high bidder, we can negotiate a separate deal for the license, if you want. I'd probably let it go for around $140.

 

Ok why not.. Ill go for $460 - that totals $600 but you will to throw in a small amount of explanation.. I probably wont keep and develop the forum for long and sell it fairly soon after. So those who are bidding for it, will probably have another chance to pick it up if I win. Im am curious what the effect of the coop is before I implement it on my sites and this looks like a good test. Also, if any one wants to work on a joint project with it let me know.. I can paypay right now.

I have seen this at other forums too ... I don't understand the logic behind pivate bidding ... and back to the topic at hand ... $500 was as high as I was prepared to go so I am out ... good luck with the sale.

 

All you bidders, how do you come up with a valuation for this investment/business?

 

I just wanted it to test the coop with before installing it on all the sites, a dead forum with some weight is a good thing to mess with, I guess. I figured I could sell it on for the same sort of price afterwards. No valuation for this one + im not sure what its actually worth.

Normally, the revenue the site generates, how traffic arrives, serps, PR, content etc etc.. add up all the little factors and if you think you can make money from it, buy it.

 

What would it cost you to achieve the same... That's one of the criteria. Buy it or build it; those are the options in business. More important though; how are you going to recoup the investment? How does it fit in with the rest of your portfolio; can it synergistically combine into something exponentially bigger, 1 + 1 = 3 idea.

Those are some questions helping evaluation.
