When chosing a domain name for a forum - that has forum in the name, which is better? forums, or forum?

    For example,

    webmasterforum.com or webmasterforums.com?

Is one better in value or traffic?

Yeh, but it's kinda the same. I would go for forums as the poll says.
Just buy both and redirect forum to forums.

I can say that there are more searches in general for "forum" than "forums." Of course, I only operate two forums but that's been my experience.

For example, with my forums, people tend to search for "golf forum" or "ipod forum"

I think "forum" will have more and on the text page, such as the front page for guests, you may want to put the word "forums" in there, too so you can be found for that term, too.

I prefer forums and always go for the plural if possible.

But, if the .com name you want is not available in forums, but is available as forum. I would go for it before you settle for a .net .org, etc.

I prefer "chat" or "talk" if you can't get both "forum" and "forums".

It depends if you are selecting broad category like "webmaster" then you have to go with "forums" if you are selecting filtered keyword then "forum" will be better.
BUT KEEP IN MIND IT'S NOT THAT VERY VERY IMPORTANT.

I reckon "forum" is the more premium domain of the two. You goal is to become the best "forum" in the niche you are marketing to. Most searches use the singular version of the term as well.

Try imagining yourself in a normal internet surfers place. Say for example, I was searching for "health forums". I would definitely search for the phrase "health forums" to give me a list of health related community sites.

But this is just a suggestion from my point of view. :)
