Hi everyone. Forum on my pages i spammed with users that have filled their www with links on pharmacy, loans and etc and wrote no posts in forum.
They register only for back links, I am sure. Before when I had public section in forum I had a lot of posts with this kind of links. What is your policy for this kind of users. I want to delete each account, that have this kind of link and don't make post for a month for example. It is a good solution, or do you have some better idea?

ban the people from your forums that are spamming. Use the DP forums' TOS as a guide for creating your own forums' TOS.

If people are actively posting they should be allowed to put their own sites in their signatures. That is what a community is about. Someone who just signed up to get the backlink on the other hand should be banned.

We faced a similar kind of a problem where such users spam the forums with their pharmacy and loans URLs. Banning them permanently is just a temporary solution as they sign up again with a new username and spam again.

The best way is to not allow live links or signatures for X number of posts. It's the only realistic way to stop a drive-by spammer.

Hi there.. i had the same problem.. but solved it.. if you notice the names are always Name116556231321 the 116 in Name"116"556231321 is always there. so if you are admining a phpbb forum , just go to the Admin section and on the left side search for "User Admin", the you have "Disallow names" click there... on Username type: *116*
this wont let any username with 116 on it to post, even guests!!
    Tested and working!

    mattuk said it right.

i think a good rule of thumb is if they contribute something worthwhile, then they've earned their link. If they've got a few posts saying "i totally agree" or "cool" ban em.

There is a very useful mod at vbulletin.org that filters spam words and urls and puts such posts in moderation que. It was just released yesterday and IMO it's very useful.

If they only have one post and its spam...dont just ban the user...Ban the IP address as well. They are like flies and will come back again and sign up again if you don't ban their ip addresses.

I have live links banned for new members, I have common spammy names banned, have common spammy domains banned...
it's not the best setup but it really helps me a lot. And, if you get repeated spam from an IP, ban the IP.

Just ban the users and remove their posts.
