forum signature links - does google count them as backlinks?

    Hi guys,

    As webmasters have different opinions about backlinks in forum signature. Some say that it does count as backlinks while others say that it doesn't count because links in forum signature are set to nofollow.

    As we know that it's easy to post 100 threads to get 100 backlinks in forum, but does it help?

    What do you guys think?

    Yes. If google does not count this as backlinks then I think lot of people will not waste their time to join forums and leave signatures.

    Currently dp forum signatures are dofollow, but not all forum sites do this. There are plenty of other forum sites that have set signature links to nofollow.

    If you are using firefox, get yourself 'Nodofollow' plugin. It would easily help you identify the characteristic of any link on a given page.

    Depends on each forum. Some do set their forum as nofollow which Google may not count as backlinks. Anyway many are dofollow.

    it helps, but in the end you better get one good link than 100 low quality links. and to tell you the true, to find this one good link can take you more time than 100 comments.
