Forum signature linkbuilding worth it?

I mentioned this on another thread but wanted to get a few more opinions. For a while, I had a signature to my site in my signature on DP for a few dozen posts. The anchor text was a very specific and not that popular keyword, so I thought that the links from DP would help. After a while, I realized that my ranking for that keyword didn't even go up one spot.

So my question is -- do signature links in forums really help much at all?

 

Its good for direct traffic and SEO.

In short, no, in long it will help you to get a new site indexed more quickly and to get some social traffic, if you post in a relevant / related forum that's it. What you do need is links from places that are relevant, i.e. in the same niche as your website. SY

 

Every little bit helps when it comes to linkbuilding. It might be a small thing to do but it does add up.

 

If you buy a signature from a forum member with 5,000 posts in different threads, your link will be posted on 5,000 different pages. That’s why members of forums succeed in selling all their link spots.

 

i don't think it would helpd on SEO, except sending traffic directly from interested member of the forums.

 

I've my site (which is a subdomain) listed only in signature and its on the first page.

yes, signature linkbuilding is good, even we can create a link wheel method by signature link

 

This will be rather helpful at relevant forums, which have pages with high PR

At least it is good for me. There is nothing to lose if you have a signature link in forum.

 

Agree with "LloydBurrell", If you have you health related site in signature in your web designing and development forum post them you will get less and non targeted traffic because people on that forum coming to discuss about web designing and development related problems, updates and solutions not for health. You should register to health forum and for your health related site. Also make sure that forum is is providing dofollow link signature or not if you want google come to your site through that signature otherwise you will get only direct traffic.

I think it depends on how many dofollow outgoing links are on the webpage

 

I think every little bit counts as well. plus I notice that in a lot of forums. you ask people what works in terms of SEO and a lot of times you get different answers. The best thing to do is put out a variety of different links all over the web and see what happens to your site. it's all a numbers game.

It certainly won't take you to the top position, but it will help a little
My forum signatures have improved my rankings within a few keywords, not a huge improvement, but it still counts

 

From link value point of view, it is not much though relevant links for extreme niche sites can work wonders for you
