Someone ofered me to buy his forum (currently 200 users / 10000 messeges and was opened in October) for $100. It has like 15 on-line users most of the time. Hosting is free since it runs it on a friend's server. Do you think it's worth buying it and use Google Adsense in it?
depends on niche on the other hand, if you intend to buy it and make it much more successful, starting at for $100 is pretty good. i'd take hosting off his site and put it on your own though
It's a realy new site. Be sure the memberslist is not just spam bots. Ask for traffic stats and do a link search for the site. Make sure the content is unquie and you should host the stie not him. Most likely you will have a very low CTR. Most forums do.
that really depends. if it was just launched in October and already have 200 users with 10,000 msg - at a glance looks like a good potential site. but do a little investigation on how the site got that many messages over this short period of time. how many unique visitor per day. check to see where the traffic is coming from and whether it is sustainable for the long run. doesn't sem to be a bad investment for 100 but better to check these things
see how many posts a user make in a day, how many times they logged in, how long do they stay online, do they regularly visit the site... stuff like that. because afaik, usually paid poster will not come back to the forum if they have finished their jobs hehe also, $100 for 200 members, 10,000 posts, and launch October if this year, I don't think it's worth buying IMO. if it's new, then how come he gets all those members/posts? does the owner knew the members? where did these members came from? it'll be better if you will start off on your own, invite friends, and friends of friends and let them spread the words. eventually, you will have that much members and posts, and even more fun since you knew the members. also, make sure the topic will caught the interest of many online users good luck
The content is not a spam - I read some of the threads. O.K. Thanks. Nothing is paid there. The site belongs to a teenager - he doesn't have money to pay for that. This year. What things? He said that it's an IPB with version 1.4 (old one) so it's free. All people I assume come from his school = friends. I'm starting another forum on my own (in Hebrew) but I find it very difficult to find a Hebrew version - even to buy seems to be almost impossibe. It's about entertainment for teenagers. He said that there is no license. I offered him a deal - I'll put a Google Ad at his website for one week and then I'll decide. I'll pay him like $20 for this experiment.
What is the url of the site. It might be helpful if we were able to take a look at it and give a more informed opinion.
I don't understand Hebrew but the one comment I have is that it was a very slow load for me. That may be to the language conversion of the differnt countries.
