I realy don't know but i think that promoting forums is the hardest thing :)) I have blogs and website at witch i am able to send easily visitors but i realy don't know how to make a forum work . Curently i am looking for people to post and help me promote the forum . Where could i find people interested in helping me (i already posted in DP) . I saw that many people say that contests on forums could prove helpfull but if i am not able to bring visitors it does not help... I have stared working on some wordpress themes that i am going to give as a prize but i realy don't know how to start this .
I am waiting for your advices . Thnks alot

The problem with forums is that nobody likes an empty one. If
you've got no active posters, noone will join in. Kind of a chicken
    and egg thing...

Hire some people to start off the posting, or, register a ton of
usernames yourself and get chatty. Combined with a contest
and incentives to post, you should be OK (as long as there isn't
too much competition for your niche).

My forum grew to 30,000 pg views a day by word of mouth. I did 0 promoting. My website is the only website doing what im doing out there so maybe thats why i gained so many members.

That is good advice. I did quite alot of chatting on the alive.com forums with muptiple accounts before a general intrest was aroused.

By the way, the fact that the home takes quite a while to load doesnt help.

Browse the copywriting forum, there is a guy who is just starting on posting matters and he is offering his services for free so it's a win-win offer; you gain help and he may gain expertise.

I would advise knocking down the amount of forums that you have and try and reduce the catogories, this way it will make it look as though your forum is more active than it is because members will see a larger number of forums and posts on your forum home page.

What makes your forum unique? If you don't have a good USP, it'll never be a success. :(

Making forums work is pot luck a lot of the time and it deffo depends on the type of forum you have. Go for one that aints overun by one group, tis easy to spot.

Yes, the trick is to pick a topic that isnt overrun, but isnt completely isolated.

For example. The popular Habbo web-chat room. It has literally hundreds of fansites, and forums. Those that are established now would never be able to compete with these standards, hence being dumped after noone comes to visit.

Opposed to that is a forum like topictown.com. Its too general. What can someone search to find a broad forum like that? It has no specific purpose or theme, hence, once again, no users.

    Stoned from HD.

And thank god, Andy (24) wants to start one like it during the summer, but not much is going to happen with it.

I think one thing is to get posting members rather than just members. I have only 55 members on the forum in my sig, but 1,527 posts.

Also, mass-emailing members helps a lot too I've found.

Few days ago I read something about forum booster in DP but didnt manage to get the links. You can google around and look for forum booster. These are hired and dedicated people who will sign up as forum member and post quality content in your forum.

    Best of luck ;)
