It definately helps to post in forums.

Not only is it an extra link to your site, but your personality and what you post will give you (and your websites) a reputation. You can't put a price on an excellent reputation

Forum postings can certainly help, and simply having your link in your signature can improve traffic. Though in many cases you need more more then a high post count if you are wanting quality traffic or something more then just a few clicks.

Following a few simple guidelines in your posting style can greatly increase the effectiveness of your invested time.

If you are simply wanting to get indexed then a bunch of onelines in a a few popular threads will certainly get the bots moving through the links, but if your posts are worth reading then you'll get more humans clicking those links... and if you have something on your site thats relevant to the topic at hand you can likely get off a link or two IN the content of the thread, which of course will generate even more clicks by people (and potential return traffic, and possibly even additional links).

 

I don't know if it's necessary but it is another useful tool in your arsenal of Internet Marketing strategies. But not just any posts, they should be generally useful posts. If you have something valuable to say or to share, people will want to find out more about you and may click on your sig links.
Plus it helps you get some back links indexed with Google.

 

IMHO, forum posting is one of the most powerful marketing tool.

1. Forum posting gets backlinks to your website through your signature to build your site popularity and ranking.

2. You also get indirect targeted traffic when you post relevant comments in relevant posts. Visitors who read it are genuinely interested in your topic.

3. If the forum thread gets ranked in the search engines, you get free organic traffic.

 

Forum posting will surely help your site to get inbound links. It will help your biz to grow fast as well
