Forum Posting

I would like to use forum posing for link building (not this forum but others). However I seem unable to use HTML link in my signature on almost all forums I have looked at.

Is it usual that this is not allowed in forums, or do you (like here) have to post a certain number of times first? Obviously they are not all the same but I’m just looking for general information.

All the forums have their own set of rules and regulations and majority of them have certain minimum number of posts or minimum days since registration criteria, which makes the member eligible for getting signature space benefits.

You should look to interact with members.....a lot more, instead of doing token posts, just to get siggy!

I think it is common. Most of the forums won't allow you to post your signature links.

Trye, All forums have Certain Rules
And do verify the forum Allows Signaute
Most of The Forums Need Certain no of Posts before Signature
The ideal Plan is to Post some Good Contributing Posts and Then add Signatures later on.
    Hope it Works out Well

As you are a new member just joined in May 2009 SO IT WILL TAKE TIME TO get your account permission to add hyperlinks or signature.

Generally you'd have to have at least n number of forum post to qualify for a signature. Added to that, the forum rules will define what you can put in your sig :)

I didn't mean for this specific forum. I just meant forums in general. Thank for your help though.

You cannot post live links in your sig if you will not able to posts in the forums.
Or all the forums has a diff. regulations, some are you can post links in your siggy without a post some then are cannot. You should read the FAQ and the rules of the forum to get you started.. :)

Using the link building by forums is useless, if you want to do qualitative and fast optimization. But it will help you to increase traffic to your site and get many useful suggestions to exchange links from other webmasters.

It really depends on what niche your forum is in, a lot of IM niches and webmaster niche forums will have more strict guidelines in place about sigs.

That is because HTML in signatures is disabled by default on just about all forum software. Allowing members to post HTML in signatures poses a security risk, and that is why its disabled. I do not know of a single forum software that has HTML turned on by default.

Forum signatures use a BB code (bulletin board code), not HTML. This is where there is a [ the command ]the text and then the closing [/command].

Look up BB code in google and get some examples.

I would check the rules for each forum, many forums either don't allow them at all or will require you have x posts or x number of days on the forum to prevent spam.
