forum posting company owners: would you be interested in....

i'm planning to create a script for forum posting companies, but as it will take quite a long time to code (it's almost a complete CMS), i first want to know if someone would want to buy it and how much you'd want to spend on it.

So if you have a forum posting company, please answer my question:

would you be interested in a complete theme/template driven portal for clients (to see their current package status), posters (available job positions, joined project status, etc..), optional promoters (= affiliates), optional supervisors (= some kind of moderator) and you as admin where you can manage your products (which can be forum posting, article writing, etc...), set prices and earnings for your posters and a lot more and how much do you want to spend on that?

    thanks a lot :)

Sounds cool but I don't think they make enough profit to buy expensive portals. For $0.12 a post, how much money can the company actually be making ?:p

well it may be $0.12 a post, but we're talking about the company owners. So with 1000-5000 posts a month i guess it is possible ;)

and i want you to give a price, i'm thinking about low $xxx, which should be possible imo :)

5000 posts a month is $600 a month. That's not even enough to sustain a business in the Americas.

I'm not trying to put your idea down, I think it's excellent. But I'm trying to give you some advice as of what to expect as I don't think these companies have enough capital to make you any good profits.

    Great idea though!

it is for forum posting, article writing and directory & article submission services...

the script will be almost the same for these four, so it's not hard for me to change from forum posting to article writing etc... :)

iahead: it will cost around low $xxx (i think between $100 and $200)

Sorry, but I personally would not be interested. I am already using a similar, custom made script that does much more, for much less. The margins are decent for a company to survive in this industry, but right now, there are only a few companies that are making the revenue right now to be able to purchaes such a script, at such a price.

I'd recommend if you do go ahead and make your script, that you offer it as a free service, with optional monthly upgrades (such as, on a free account, a company can work on 1-3 campaigns at a time...and for $10.00/month can upgrade to 4-7...and so on). I think you can make much more money this way, while still being popular and used by many other companies. If you operate this way, I may be interested (though I run up to 40 campaigns at the same time).

Sorry but I would not be interested.

I don't like automated things like this, private scripting I believe is alot better than having something another 2000+ sites use.

It depends - I would be interested if there was proper CSS support, testing and technical support. Due to your projected price, I don't think it would become one of these "ten a penny" scripts that you find everywhere on the web.

However, it would have to work well and have a professional edge - after all, this is supporting business to client interaction.

I understand the margins are low, but if you look at something like Paid Posting Tools and its monthly subscription, this may well become a bargain. I'm not entirely sure how many options you have, but I've never been interested in it and certainly not from a client point of view.
