Hello there guys Just wondering which one is more popular to set up a forum subdomain like forum.site.com or forums.site.com. Besides, DP is using only forums.dp etc.., but I'm sure lots of people type forum.digitalpoint.com and get an error message ( I used to do that before). So it can be a loss, why not register a subdomain forum.digitalpoint.com and redirect it to forums.digitalpoint.com ? thanks, Michael
Have one redirect to the other. Though I always just use a directory, /mb/ for message boards, unless the domain is 100% message boards, then just / (root directory).
Nope I'm planning a big forum, on a site with some decent traffic, so subdirectory isn't an option But I might use it for a directory too ..
Let me guess, sub domains are used to hopefully allow more pages on the site to get indexed in search engines, since even a site with a million visitors can have the boards in a directory just as easily as as a sub domain.
There's another reason.. If you have a forum at a subdomain, it may be easier to promote it, since most directories, don't like much subdirectories.. also I think it's cool to have another subdomain
By now I see that most of people've chosen the forum.site.com option.. anyone willing to explain why?
I agree, it leaves the impressions of being a big and resourceful community. Also since the different sections are called forums themselves, it does make sense to use the plural
Well, anyway, I've decided to use forums and also register forum and redirect it to forums.. thanks everyone for votes and tips
