Do you pay your moderators? Why do they do it? And one last question, where can i find someone that would moderate my forum for free?

    rofl. Yes moderating is fun.
I was made a forum mod at an occult /forum.
after a couple of weeks of being a member.

I'm now in charge of 2 sub forums/categories over there..if that makes sense.
I do it for free, becuase it's my first modding job and the topic interests me. The forum is average in site with a great community.
If i was asked for example to mod a site that offered services and obviously made an income...I probably would want payment.
    depends on the situation.

Have you thought about using one or two of your current members that you trust to become a moderator? Moderators are usually long-term members of your forum.

Agreed. they should be moderators because they enjoy and frequently participate in your site. If your site makes *a lot* of money maybe you should do a little something for them. I've heard of some forums the adsense sharing for vbulletin, but only sharing with the mods.

Some Forums pay to Moderators , Some dont pay.
Moderators do free moderating for fun , learning & networking .
You can find moderators for your forum amongst your active members. :)

Usually you upgrade one of your members to the Moderator, or Administrator status. However don't choose an random member, you usually wait for a while and choose the most mature, responsible and trust worthy member.

    What is your forum URL.

There is no reason to pay a moderator. Find your most enthusiastic users and ask them if they are interested. You can reward them with a permanent text link on your forums for the life of their moderation duties. Works pretty well for me.

    Exactly what I do.^

As for free moderators, if this doesn't work- try this.
