Just a little curious, but I know there are alot of people doing signature / avatar buying right here at DP (i've done it myself). I have a new business which revolves around software... I've been looking at some of the top competitors in the market and they all seem to announce new products / updates on relevant forums... would you say this has good effects? I don't know whether alot of them are in connection with editors, but to me it seems like they are just posting it themselves.. I know some may get annoyed with this but it seems to have had a good effect with their websites and products.. Anyone like to shed some light?
It has a good result only if you are not spamming. I mean you should post a few posts before starting advertising a product in a forum.
Forum avatars have some affect, its all about the purposes of branding. I've wrote two blog posts recently on effective forum marketing and branding. Like everything, if you just try and sell to people, you won't get good results. Post useful information and build your credibility and reputation... that way, you'll find lots of people willing to buy from you! Make it your goal to help others and you'll get your rewards. Thanks for replies. I'm not so much looking into avatar/signaure links, but more posting topics on the forums with my products as a solution or an answer. Or even making posts when new products are released. Earlier I complied a list of over 40+ top forums on relevant topics so I'll eventually get around to doing this on those forums
