I would be pleased to have some tips about marketing new forum.
Because i think at the start of forums users are in very less number and posts and threads are also not sufficient.
So what to do for encouraging visitors to stay on forum.
+ What are the tactics to marketing any specific forum?
    Thank You.

Post whore the place with good content. Find a few friends to post alot, or pay someone to post, or develope a multiple personality disorder and have conversations with yourself with different usernames.

Also, work on getting backlinks, and make sure your forum is SEO friendly.

Post in other forums of similar topic to yours and include a link to your forum in your signature. And exchange posts with other forums to get more activity generated in your forum. Visitors will be turned away by an empty forum, so you have to generate some buzz.

I just wrote a PR for another forum recently that had a good affect. It helped get the word out, plus helped with backlinks. There are also a number of free article submissions you could submit to for supplementing the effectiveness.

There are a couple of vbulletin seo hacks that are free to use from vbulletin.org and there's a commercial product - vbseo. I've just started using vbseo on my vbulletin powered forum and it's really impressive. ;)

Dont just build a forum site, make an actual website to acompany it. IMO sites that offer a forum (aswell as normal content pages) are more likely to visit the forum.

you could use the site to display 'free samples' and for all access they have to be a member of the forum etc

A good way to get your forums up and running is a paid posts service. Paid posts service can help get you more traffic and members ina couple ways.

    - When a visor visits our forum, they are more likly to stay if they see a large number of posts,

    - Web Crawlers are constantly searching forums, the more posts you have, the more they have to look at, and the more search engines you will be indexed on. :)

    I would suggest: pixeldynamics.org/paidposts.htm

If you have any questions feel free to PM me.

    Regards,
    Nick

Also, in the beginning try to keep your site with less topics, it helps to make it look more crowded. Then when it grows you can add more topics.

I also suggest you to seo your forum, it's the best step you can take. But not only make it search engine friendly, you have to get links to your main page with your keywords. In other words, rank your forum for your keyphrases.

I once had a forum where I didn't made a single comment in about 4 months (yes, I know, I'm a bad forum administrator  ) and the forum continued to grow just from the traffic it was getting from msn.

Make sure you do things right from the beginning.

For example, I went with forum software that wasn't right with me. I started to promote my forum the old fashioned way. I picked about 10 strangers in the first week. The community is still very small, but it's active.

I have a number of mods that I need completed. There stands of chance that my current members may or may not jump onto my system. Basically, it has just been a waste of time

I know many guys who appear to be very knowledgeable use PHPbb. It may work for your application.
