Hello, I need some good tips on marketing a forum. I run a general chat forum http://www.thebiggestforum(dot)com . I have some contest running, but they dont seem to do the trick. I have gotten paid posting things. Is there any other ways to get mass amounts of traffic to a forum?

Wow, you have a TON of posts in "Off Topic." How'd you manage that?

Since your forum is very general, maybe you can find sites that cater to each specific subforum and sponsor their forum. Also, maybe a revenue-sharing program like this forum? Not sure how effective that will be for a general forum.

First you will need some posts to make the site look active. None register to an empty forum. You can do that by inviting your frields, or pay for some posts.

You can also look at Lee D's site which have many usefull advices for forum owners ( http://www.forumtrends.com/ )

I guess you can pretty much make the posts by yourself - just create like 10 nicks and sing in and post with different of them. Of course, the posts do HAVE TO make sense...
