    Hi

I was wondering if forum links even count with Google. Since anyone can post and have their links below it seems spammy sometimes. So any theories as to wether forum links count or not with google?? or Yahoo, MSN for that matter.

I think you mean "signature links",yes, they are counted as backlinks and they are very useful nowadays..Especially the links in this forum, some one even sell a link for $100/month.

I thought these links would disappear eventually because there are so many people posting ideas and questions. Is this the case?

I've posted in forums and seen backlinks show up in google results, but i've never seen my signiture links come up.

That's pretty sweet to know. Definitely encouragment to be more active in forums such as this.

Posting to forums relevant to your web site can also yield an instant and significant amount of traffic, especially if you're selling something they're discussing.

Aim of posting on forum should not be for just getting a link back but to get involved in the overall growth of the forum.

Its only when the forum becomes popular and authoritative that you will bebefit in the end from the link.

as long as there isnt a "nofollow" tag around them (which is the case for many forums) then you should get a little weight from them.

I find in my backlinks, links from my signature here.

So the must be usefull, but realize that this is a very known forum, most of forums will give you links but of poor value, use your signature as a way to catch some traffic, not only for links purposes.

And try to not get spammy, it isvery annoying when anyone post in a forum you own only to get links from your forum :-(

I've done some reading on sig links and have found that they are very useful for both SEO reasons and just a good business move. It is best to be active in forums yourself but it doesn't hurt to rent someone's signature space (assuming that someone posts intelligently). I think the combination of getting traffic from people reading the posts and the link building advantage (though Google doesn't value sig links as much as other links) makes a sig link a pretty cool thing.
